Medisorb P SILVER

Medisorb P SILVER is a sterile foam dressing consisting of three layers: an active layer, composed primarily of chitosan and silver, which creates an aseptic wound environment and conditions that promote the healing process, a hydrophilic polyurethane foam, which absorbs exudate and protects the wound from mechanical trauma, and an external layer of semi-permeable polyurethane film which shields the wound from external factors.

The optimal treatment of hard-to-heal wounds using MEDISORB P SILVER, especially venous ulcers, is to combine it with pharmacotherapy to address the root cause of the condition.

Indications

Medisorb P SILVER is suitable for treating exudative wounds with moderate or high exudate volume, infected wounds or those at risk of secondary infection. It can be used to treat lower leg ulcers, pressure sores, burns, post-operative wounds and extensive post-traumatic injuries, as well as to dress wounds that form in the course of diabetic foot syndrome.

Optimal effects of treatment of hard-to-heal wounds with the Medisorb P SILVER dressing, especially venous ulcers, are achieved by combining, for example, with pharmacological therapy, which has a positive effect on the underlying disease.

Directions for use

Use strictly as directed in the package insert and under the supervision of a physician or nurse, who will ensure that the dressing is applied aseptically. Read the directions for use before applying the dressing. The dressing should be immobilized using products intended for this purpose, e.g. a bandage, plaster. The yellow/light brown side of the dressing should be applied to the wound. The dressing should be changed every 1-5 days, depending on the condition of the wound and the amount of exudate. The dressing may need to be changed more often in the first phase of treatment of highly exudative wounds. Dressing changes are also necessary if its absorbent properties have decreased, the wound’s condition has deteriorated or a secondary infection has occurred.

Additional remarks

Do not use past the expiry date. The product is intended for single use only. Reuse of the product is impossible due to the loss of absorbent properties of the dressing and its contamination. In case of re-use, transmission of pathogenic agents may occur. Dressings can be trimmed with sterile scissors to a size that ensures that the entire surface of the wound is covered. The dressings may vary in terms of the colour of the active layer. This results from the production process and does not affect the product’s performance or mechanism of action.

Contraindications

The dressing should not be applied on dry or dried wounds, with black necrosis or dry scab. The dressing has no bleeding-stopping properties. It should also not be used on wounds with low exudate due to the risk of adhesion. Do not use the dressing in conjunction with ointments, creams, powders or disinfectants. The product should not be used if the patient has been diagnosed with an allergy to polyurethane, silver or chitosan. The treatment with Medisorb P SILVER dressing should be immediately discontinued if an allergic reaction or irritation occurs or if the wound’s condition worsens. The dressing should not be used in patients suffering from argyria.
