Hydrocolloid dressing. Controls exudate with an absorbency grade suitable for moderately exudative wounds
Medisorb H
Sterile hydrocolloid dressing
Medisorb H is a sterile, self-adhesive dressing consisting of a gelatin-free hydrocolloid layer and a thin, semi-permeable polyurethane film, which serves as a barrier against bacteria, viruses and water.
When the hydrocolloid layer comes into contact with wound exudate, a compact gel is formed which absorbs the exudate and ensures an appropriate moisture level to promote healing. The moist environment promotes the granulation and epithelialisation processes. The gel prevents the dressing from adhering to the wound, so that removing it does not cause pain or damage new cells.
Medisorb H is suitable for moist wound healing and can be used to treat moderately exudative wounds, such as second-degree burns, lower leg ulcers, pressure sores, chronic slow-healing wounds and abrasions.
Use strictly as directed in the package insert and under the supervision of a physician or nurse, who will ensure that the dressing is applied aseptically. Read the directions for use before applying the dressing. It does not require a secondary dressing. The dressing should be changed once the hydrocolloid layer turns to gel. The frequency of dressing changes depends on the amount of exudate. In the case of highly exudative wounds, the dressing may need to be changed daily. In the case of mildly exudative wounds or wounds undergoing the epithelialisation process, the dressing may be left on the wound for up to 7 days.
The lack of gelatin minimises allergic reactions and eliminates unpleasant odours.
Medisorb H should not be applied to third-degree burns, infected wounds or exposed muscles, bones or tendons.
