Medisorb F

is a sterile, transparent dressing consisting of a polyurethane membrane coated with an acrylic adhesive.

Mechanism of action

The dressing is impervious to microorganisms; however, it allows oxygen to reach the wound and helps remove water vapour. Medisorb F helps maintain an appropriate moisture level in the wound, thus preventing eschar formation and promoting healing. Medisorb F allows visual inspection of the wound during the healing process.

Indications

Medisorb F is suitable for treating minor burns, graft donor sites, grade I and II pressure sores, post-operative wounds, abrasions and cuts. It can also be used as a preventive measure to protect skin that is exposed to abrasion or moisture.

Directions for use

Use strictly as directed in the package insert and under the supervision of a physician or nurse, who will ensure that the dressing is applied aseptically. Read the directions for use before applying the dressing. It does not require a secondary dressing. The dressing may be left on the wound for up to 7 days. Medisorb F should be removed immediately if there are any clinical signs of infection.

Contraindications

Medisorb F should not be applied to third-degree burns or deep wounds.
If any signs of inflammation appear, such as elevated temperature, oedema or redness, remove the dressing and contact a physician. Do not use past the expiry date. Do not reuse the product, as this is associated with a very high risk of infection.
