Rehydrates necrotic tissue
Medisorb G + A
Description
Medisorb G + A is a sterile, amorphous hydrogel with added alginates, intended for gentle hydration of dry necrotic tissue. The device facilitates autolytic debridement while demonstrating the ability to loosen and absorb slough and exudate. It can also be used to provide an optimal moist environment in the later stages of wound healing.
Medisorb G+A is supplied as a sterile, single-use device.
Effect
For dry wounds: Medisorb G+A transforms the wound environment from dry to moist (hydrogel effect). Dry tissue absorbs water contained in the dressing, which initiates and promotes autolysis (enzymatic breakdown) of necrotic tissue.
In the case of exuding wounds: the hydrocolloid particles contained in Medisorb G+A are activated, which leads to the absorption of excess fluid and restoration of the water balance in the wound bed (hydrocolloid effect).
Polyol function: the gel contains polyol, which acts as a humectant (moisturising agent), preventing the gel from drying out and improving its application properties.
Indications
Medisorb G+A is primarily intended for the treatment of wounds with dry or sloughy necrotic tissue, such as leg ulcers, pressure sores, and uninfected diabetic foot ulcers. Medisorb G+A can also be used on first- and second-degree burns. The gel can be used throughout the healing process to provide a moist environment in all types of wounds, except those listed in the “Precautions” section.
Directions for use
Use strictly according to the instructions in the leaflet and under the supervision of a doctor or nurse, who will ensure aseptic application of the dressing. Read the instructions before use. It requires secondary dressing protection.
Additional remarks
Cleansing effect (debridement): irrigates necrotic tissue and promotes autolytic cleansing.
Desloughing effect: absorbs slough and exudate without damaging delicate granulation tissue.
Creation of a moist healing environment: provides optimal conditions which support the healing process, reduce the risk of scarring, and help alleviate pain.
Stability and prevention of maceration: the viscous consistency ensures that the gel remains in place. Even after absorbing dead tissue and exudate, the gel retains its cohesiveness, preventing leakage and maceration of the skin around the wound.
Easy removal: thanks to its high cohesiveness, the gel is easy to remove, even after absorbing debris and exudate.
Contraindications
Do not use the device on persons with a known allergy to the gel, on third-degree burn wounds, or if the packaging is damaged or has been opened earlier.
